What is Cash Reward?

The part of a task's reward that is a real-life payment a parent promises their child, tracked in UpZi but never held or moved by the app. Sometimes called an allowance or pocket money.

Every task a parent sets in UpZi has a reward split into two parts: a gold reward and a cash reward. The cash reward is the non-gold part.

There is no in-app wallet. UpZi does not hold, move, or transfer the cash reward. It is the parent's own promise to pay their child, and UpZi simply tracks it alongside the task so both sides can see what was agreed.

By default a task splits 80% gold and 20% cash, but a parent can change the split for any task before assigning it.

Parent only, per task
Default split
20% of the reward (80% goes to the gold share by default)
Held by the app?
No — tracked only, the parent pays it in real life

Cash Reward vs Gold Share

The cash reward is a tracked promise, not money the app moves. The gold share is the opposite: it's real digital gold, bought the moment a task is approved. One is paid by the parent directly, the other is bought and held on the family account.

Frequently asked questions

Does UpZi pay out the cash reward automatically?

No. UpZi has no wallet and never transfers money. The parent pays the cash reward themselves, the same way they would hand over pocket money.

Can a child change the cash reward on a task?

No. Only the parent who creates the task can set or change its reward split.

What happens to the cash reward if a task is rejected?

Nothing is paid yet. Rejecting a task clears the submitted proof so the child can redo it, and the reward is only paid out once the parent approves the task.

Is the cash reward the same amount for every task?

No. Each task's gold/cash split is set individually by the parent, so the cash reward can be different for every task.
